Muse is British rock band, and Knights Of Cydonia comes from their 2006 album Black Holes and Revelations.
And that is about all of the objectively factual things I can say about this band and song. That leaves us with my ( #bigfatwally ) opinion. Muse is one of those bands that their albums are not that great. You listen to them, and its like "Meh, whatever." However, you let them make a music video, or you put them on an amazingly mixed soundtrack with other bands like them, especially a soundtrack for a movie that has no right to have an awesome soundtrack (like the Twilight movies), and they SHINE.

Anyways, enjoy!

Here is an is another song from the 90's that some of you youngsters may not have heard, and you probably haven't heard of the band either. I first read the band name "Butthole Surfers" in a copy of the second edition Vampire: The Masquerade RPG rulebook back around 1994. I think it was suggested music for the angry anarchist vampire clan from the game, and, having grown up in West Germany in the 80's, I was always down to find new punk music. Turns out it isn't so much punk, but their music IS really good. This song was popular when I was in high school. Or maybe I just thought it was popular because I hung out stoners and angry nerds.

Enjoy!

Pearl Jam, huh? Yeah, they were good for a while... "A while" actually means "one album" in this case.

I loved Ten, but when I listened to the entirety of Vitalogy on Christmas Day(my parents always got me a stack of CD's for Christmas), I realized they used up almost the entirety of their good-music ammo on Ten.

A couple years later Yield came out, and I remember thinking I would give it a listen. A week after it came out, I found it had already been relegated to the $4.99 bin in the Best Buy In West Palm(where I was living at the time). I bought that album, and there was exactly one good song on that album. This is that one good song. And the video is stupidly well animated...

Another #musicmonday, another week I'm tempted to post up more He Is Legend. And this week I'm gonna listen to the voice telling me "do it."

This week, I'm sharing Attack of the Dungeon Witch. It is the kind of song you might not super enjoy the first time you hear it, but the more you hear it, the more it becomes apparent how awesome these guys are, and how great this song really is. When I first started listening to these guys, I didn't really get this song. Now? Every time I think of he Is Legend, this song is playing somewhere in my subconscious, and that makes me happy!  If you want to know more about the band, they can be found on both Twitter and Instagram at @HeIsLegendNC

Enjoy!

And this week, I just wanted to share something fun. You probably have heard this song, but You probably haven't seen the amazing video.

The Darkness is a British glam-rock band. There isn't a lot else to say about them. None of their other songs are really worth listening to, to be honest. But this song? Most folks can't help but sing along and try to hit those crazy high notes.

Enjoy!

Okay, so we aren't SUPER fond of rap, but I doubt there is a single member of the #drunkontacos family that isn't a fan of Tech N9ne... And we aren't the biggest fans of Slkipknot, but man, this is awesome! It isn't brand new, but it IS worth checking out!

Enjoy!

P.S. I am working on getting more regular content for you folks, and maybe some looks behind the scenes here at DoT, so stay tuned!

#musicmonday

Well, dammit.

If you haven't already heard, we lost a man who was probably one of the greatest musicians we will know in our lifetimes... David Bowie passed peacefully yesterday, surrounded by friends and family, ending an 18 month battle with cancer.

That is probably one of the saddest things I have ever had to type.

Mr. Bowie made many kinds of music, in many different genres, but they all had one thing in common: they were always amazing.

Godspeed, good sir. You will be missed,

#musicmonday

Well, It isn't exactly Monday, but here is this week's #musicmonday! Last week we weren't able to post one up due to the fact that my home network has been down from almost two weeks now, and I just got it back up maybe 15 minutes ago!  Last time, I shared a video, and the song was okay, but this week, man. I love this song. It is my favorite track from Daft Punk's Discovery. But Wally, why is it a chunk of anime for the video? Well, Daft Punk worked with Toei Animation to create Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem. What is Interstella 5555, you may ask. Well, it is an animated rock opera set to the enitre album Discovery, and it is kinda amazing. We here at #drunkontacosw LOVE us some anime. And while some of it might be the WORST anime, you haven't lived until you have seen the heroic adventures of "blue alien space janitor Jesus."

Enjoy!

Okay, so this will probably be the first of many songs that I'll be sharing simply for the video. The music is pretty good, but not exactly what I would normally listen to. But the video? Man, that video. If you start watching it, you have to finish it. I was first shown this video a couple years back at the local anime club hosted at the Dothan Fanatix. It was this and Willy Bum Bum back to back. This was the better of the two, or at least the more appropriate to share. Okay, so with all of that said, what do I know about DyE? Not much. French guy. Makes electronic music. Isn't as good as Daft Punk (which are two French dudes that make electronic music with animated videos). Still. super worth the couple of minutes it takes to watch this. Enjoy!

#musicmonday

I'll be honest, I have no idea how I first found out about these guys. No clue whatsoever, but they are pretty awesome! Hidden Hospitals is an indie modern prog rock band with a hint of a heavier 90's alt sound; REALLY good stuff! They are out of Chicago, so maybe there is a chance we will get to see them in Atlanta at some point, as opposed to indie bands from the west coast. Anyways, definitely check these guys out, and if you like what you hear, support them. Their Album is available on CD, vinyl, and iTunes, and as rare as it is for my to buy music, *I* picked up this album!

Ladies and gentlemen,

Bone Scraper, by Hidden Hospitals!

#musicmonday

Okay, another Monday, another new song! This song is from Ateryu's 2004 album The Curse, which is one of those few albums I would consider "almost perfect." I had a hard time narrowing down which song I wanted to share from it, but in the end I decided to go with my favorite song, even though it received no airplay as it wasn't a single. It is the most representative of their music at the time. Back in the MySpace days of opening someones page and being blasted with music, this song was what came on when you saw mine. Atreyu has apparently come out with a new album, as of a couple months ago, and I just found out this past week. I went to give it a listen on their page, but I wasn't impressed by the track they put out there first. I'll give the entire album a listen, but I was really hoping for more of "The Curse." Who knows, maybe it will grow on me.

Enjoy!

Another Monday, another song. This week we are going to share another song from He Is Legend. Why? Why the hell not? I was reminded how good this song is last night while we were putting a new dash into Big Mike's Tahoe, and we threw this CD into the stereo to test the wiring and make sure everything works. The truck is coming together nicely, and it has me super pumped to pick up my own 2-door Tahoe around tax time (I'm wanting a 4wd 99 model, since it comes with the newer Vortec motor and the newer style interior). This will most definitely not be the last song from He Is Legend that we share with you, so buckle up.

Enjoy

#musicmonday

And again, this week we are going with something different.  The Pretty Reckless are what I would call a "female-fronted white-trash rock" band, and have been together since 2007, but it is just in the last 2 years or so that you might have heard a single or two from them. I'm not gonna post a hit single here, instead I'll share a song with you that really stands out. Follow Me Down has some pretty awesome guitar riffs, but it also has some really awesome stand-alone bass lines that seperate bits of the song, giving it a really chaotic/discordant sound that really works well with the combination of both angry and sultry singing that is what makes this song so special.

Enjoy!

#musicmonday

So, last week we went hard and fast with Travis Barker and Yelawolf, and this week we are going to stay hard and fast with Nekrogoblikon! No One Survives isn't just a pretty awesome power/speed metal song, it is also a fairly amazing video. John Goblikon is actually a part of their stage show, and from what I've seen, their live performances live up to the energy of the tracks they put out on their albums. I really hope I get to see them live in concert one day.

Enjoy!

#musicmonday

So this week is something a little special. A two for one! Kinda. Yelawolf is a rap favorite among the #drunkontacos family, and Travis Barker is one of the best rock drummers out there today. And the two came together and put an album together. You probably know Travis Barker as the drummer for Blink 182, but he has worked a lot of side projects, and after everything he has tried, he recently said that he was so happy to work with Yelawolf that he was no longer going to work on anything else, and work exclusively with him from here out! Maybe it is the fact that Yelawolf recently released a new album (Love Story) that has made the country crowd sit up and notice that country isn't very country anymore, and that it took a rapper from south Alabama to release a real country album. It is one of our dreams to have this site be big enough that, once we start posting interviews, we get to meet and interview him for this site. He sure is an interesting character with an interesting story and a LOT of talent.

This song is not indicative of his current style, but it sure does show off his mic skills! We hope you enjoy it and check out more of his music!

New Motovlog Is Up!

New motovlog is now up and ready for consumption! Talked a little about our trip to Barber Vintage Bike Fest, a bit about work being done on the bike, some about Fanaticon (our local nerd/pop culture convention that is growing VERY quickly), and got to try out a new audio setup! I'm sure there is some audio filter I could run this through and make it sound awesome, but there is little to no engine, wind, or exhaust noise bleeding into the audio pickup. I shot a quick clip (not included) with the baffles out and it had enough exhaust noise where you could actually hear the bike, so I might start shooting these with the baffles out to make them come across as more "dynamic."

Enjoy!

p.s. Don't worry, in the beginning, I was only in second gear getting a feel for the new map, without using any clutch...

#musicmonday

While last week we changed things up a bit by bringing you a rap song, this week we are changing things up by bringing you a song that actually encompasses several different musical genres. Twelve Foot Ninja is a band out of Australia, and I don't personally know what the musical scene is like down there, but if it is anything like what we've gotten from these guys, I want to know more.
