Ronnie-James-Dio.jpg

Okay, this week we are going back to 1983 for Ronnie James Dio's Holy Diver!

Yeah, you might know this song because of the Killswitch Engaged cover, and their video is a pretty good homage to the original, but nothing says awesome like Dio's ugly mug singing directly into the camera.

Why did I mention him being ugly? because back in the day, you didn't have to be a beautiful person to be famous. Ugly guys were the kings of rock. I mean, look at Dio, The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Twisted Sister, Kiss, Motorhead, etc... As much as I'm very much not a fan or The Stones and Aerosmith, they are still perfect examples of ugly guys becoming famous because people genuinely loving their music.

It also helps that this song and video are genuinely bad ass. Enjoy!

#nerdythursday

So, when I made the introduction #motovlog, I said we like nerdy stuff, yet I've been slacking on such content. That is now changing with our new weekly post: #nerdythursday!

I(#bigfatwally), really like Pokemon. We also LOVE wrestling. Both of which are pretty nerdy things to be really into. So put that peanutbutter and jelly together, and you get this interview. Austin Creed (WWE's Xavier Woods) is a big time nerd that finds time in his busy schedule to be a prolific and vocal gamer, and SBJ(the host of It's Super Effective) has created the world's most popular(and for good reason) Pokemon podcast (which can be found here)!

The enigmatic Mr. Davenport leads a tour of Archive 81. Melody fails to interview a member of a historical society. And Dan is unable to prevent the destruction of a tape. Please consider rating and reviewing this show on iTunes. So, I just finished the first season of this amazingly weird audiodrama podcast: Archive 81.

I can't say much about the storyline without spoiling it, but it is REALLY worth the listen. Fortunately for those with limited time(and unfortunately for those of us with plenty of listening time), it is only 10 episodes, each less than 20 minutes each.

Give the first episode a listen, and if you want to listen to the rest, it can be found 100% free over at Archive81.com!

Enjoy!

#musicmonday

So I've been sick again. Sinus infections are kicking my butt. I had to work Saturday night, so Sunday was my one day off, and I spent most of it sleeping. I was just trying to sleep the day away before work tonight when I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep. I quickly realised I hadn't made a #musicmonday post, and that I had no idea what song to bring you this week. I figured I would just grab a Yelawolf song, when I found out that Yela JUST dropped a new track last week. How did I not know this? I'm really looking forward to seeing this new album in total, because this track is even more country than the average track from Love Story, and that was what made that album so great!

Enjoy!

BONUS!!!

Okay, so if you don't like seeing a couple seconds of pixelated boobs, and not in a sexual manner, or if it could you in trouble at work, don't watch this trailer (at work). You have been warned!

Wild Zero: Rock N' Roll Jet Movie!! is one of the greatest movies of all time. It is a Japanese language movie (Engish subtitles available) that focuses the punk rock band "Guitar Wolf" (with Guitar Wolf on the guitar, Bass Wolf on the bass, and Drum Wolf on the drums), and it involves mobsters, a government special agent, a group of three friends, the zombie apocolypse, and an alien invasion.  And only three things combined can save the world: Rock N' Roll(!!!), Love, and the world's most awesome guitar(not in the trailer). And some of it is shot in the style of The Monkees tv show. I kid you not.

Enjoy!

P.S. The entire movie had been available on YouTube for almost 10 years, but recently got taken down. The next best thing is the first 10 minutes (minus the opening credits). It really gives you an idea of how crazy a movie it gets to be, considering this is about as normal as it gets. If the full movie is ever available again, I'll post it up as a bonus #weirdwednesday!

Focus-2-1-.jpg

I know, I know, the #musicmonay post is a bit late today, but to be fair, I just got home from the hospital, and getting this post out is my numero uno priority!

Kepping with the weird theme, I chose to recommend Focus's "Hocus Pocus." If you give it a watch, be sure to watch all the way through, that dude gets weirder with each "verse."

Focus is a dutch prog-rock band that has been around since 1969, and still tours. And this song is kinda notorius among the #drunkontacos crew as the YouTube video I always make everyone watch if there is someone new to the group and hasn't seen it yet. Everyone gets a kick out of it, even if prog-rock isn't their thing.

Enjoy!!!

kaiju-big-battel-los-angeles-mayan.jpg

So, last week I brought the weirdness that is Night Vale. This week, well, this is something just as a special, and definitely just as weird.

We here at #drunkontacos LOVE wrestling. But this goes beyond that. This isn't wrestling; THIS is Kaiju Big Battel!

KBB was founded as a way to allow the giant monsters, and the heros that fight them, to duke it out without killing millions of innocent bystanders, and without doing untold billions of dollars in damages to our great cities!

The first video is an introduction to KBB and to it's storied history, as well as an introduction to its various groups, and some of the heros and villians that take part in these harrowing battles!

The second video was a Super Special that aired on MTV2 WAY back in 2003, but doesn't show it's age at all. It is also a good way to actually see some of the action. If your tiny, puny, human mind can cope with such concepts! And they get to shill a DVD a bunch. But it is still worth a watch!

Enjoy!

Following last week's weird up is no small feat, but I think I might be able to do just that. First off, the first video is the actual Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans opening animation featuring a shortened version of Man With A Mission's "Raise Your Flag." The second video is their official music video.

Man With A Mission Is a Japanese hard rock band with both hip-hop and electronic elements. What makes them unique? They were created to be the ultimate life-form by the doctor of the guitar and master wolf biologist, Jimi Hendrix! They were then cryogenically frozen and stored in Antarctica for many years before escaping to form their band and take on the world of Japanese rock music. Seeing as they were able to land the opening track for Japan's most beloved giant robot property, I think it is safe to say they are winning that battle!

And this song is a pretty crazy track to have on your workout playlist, let me tell you!

Enjoy!

Welcome-To-Night-Vale.png

Welcome to our new weekly post: #weirdwednesday!

We are trying to increase and improve our content, so what better way to do just that than to bring you weird and unusual content from around the world? There is never enough weird in your life. We will try to fix that.

Welcome to Night Vale is a long running audiodrama that can be downloaded as a podcast or listened to on YouTube. It is extremely well writen and acted out. It is like NPR's News from Lake Wobegon, but set in a semi-lovecraftian town and entertaining.

Enjoy! And if you want to hear more, make sure to listen to them in order!

#musicmonday

Okay, this week is a bit different. It is Monday night. That's unusual for a #musicmonday post. It is also a Monday night that I'm not at work(I've been working 3rd shift for almost 15 years), that that rather odd. Also, this mm post is being made to celebrate the start of a SECOND weekly post, and I'm SUPER lazy, so you could say that this is downright "weird!"

That said, as much as I hate pop music, I have a special place in my heart for this song. I really like strong female vocals, and I like how the song changes thematically, and I like how it has a weird sci-fi space witch(?) feel to the video.

Anyways, this is Shakespears Sister with their most popular single "Stay." Enjoy!

#motovlog

After the group ride got cut short at the 2016 Georgia Motovlogger Meetup, we decided to go ride Blood Mountain. How did that turn out? Did that bit of rocky real estate live up to its name? Where's the beef? All of those questions, and more, will be answered in Part 2, which is THIS video!

The footage of a wreck is from Youtuber "Simon says," and the original video can be found at: https://youtu.be/MbM1jc9oiEw
Go check out his videos! I'm not sure he speaks english, so he may or may not be able to read this. Either way, I hope he is cool with us using his footage. I mean, we could replace it with a dramatic re-creation using a toy motorcycle. I mean, that could be kinda cool too.

#musicmonday

Okay, so I probably found out about Busdriver (Regan John Farquhar) the exact same way that like 90% of the people that know about him did. The soundtrack to Tony Hawk's Underground.

I really wish there was more I could tell you about him, but, seeing as he is an underground/independant LA rapper, yeah, the internet (at least to the level I'm willing to dig) doesn't really know much about him either. And I'm already behind getting this post up due to some local internet issues.

So how about this? Listen to the song, enjoy the song, marvel at Busdriver's rapping skills. It really is a great song.

Enjoy.

So, while looking for Ska-metal, I accidentally found a Soviet-era Russian-themed Austrian ska band, and decided to check out the other acts from their label. If you have ever heard of Alter Bridge or Monster Magnet, then you have heard two of Napalm Records other signed bands. Me being a sucker for female fronted metal bands, I decided to give Jinjer a shot. Man, was that the right decision. They are a Ukranian metal band with a slight djent flavor and a female vocalist that can do everything from lounge jazz vocals to hardcore, shaming the boys, vocal chord ripping roaring.  Like, wow. And, I'm not gonna lie, she ain't exactly hard on the eyes.

Now where can I go to find crazy hot Ukranian metal chicks around here? Especially ones with a taste for fat bearded, pierced, and tattooed guys named "Wally."

And when was the last time I shared two recommendations from one band in a single post? They are that good!

Enjoy!

#musicmonday

So, Goldfinger.

#brentdoesn'tdeserveahashtag hates this band. He also hates Tony Hawk Pro Skater. Why? I don't know, but I think it has a little something to do with him having terrible taste in music and hating fun.

This is from their 1996 self-titled album, whic has more than a few songs that will eventually be shared on here, but for now, we are going to stick with the lead single, because it is the most ska-tacular single from the album. It is also probably their second most well-known song. Superman being the most well-known song, due to being included in the THPS soundtrack, which was a pretty awesome soundtrack, if you ask me.

Enjoy!

#musicmonday

Ususally when a musician dies, I post up a #musicmonday post in their honor, featuring my favorite song by said musician. Scott Weiland died on December 3rd, and I'm just now feeling confident enough to say that Sour Girl is my Favorite Stone Temple Pilots song...

You already know STP, And you already know how much I love their 3rd album, Tiny Music... Songs from the Vatican Gift Shop, but this is my favorite song of theirs. It is also the perfect song to show how much their music changed between albums 2 and 3, even though this was on their 4th album, No. 4.

Anyways, I hope you are better, Scott, and thanks for the Music.

Enjoy.

#musicmonday

So, I didn't post anything last week. I apologize. I am back now, and ready to go! This week, I'm bringing you A song by The Mighty Mighty Bosstones. If it weren't for this band(and Reel Big Fish) ska would never have gained any mainstream notoriety, I actually got to see them in concert, along with Reel Big Fish, 311, Pennywise, NOFX, Blink 182, Rocket From The Crypt, and Deftones back in 1996 at the last day of the 96 Van's Warped Tour. It was a pretty awesome show! I think I mentioned going to this show before.

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones are a bit different from most ska bands in that they don't always use the one way open strum guitar, preferring to use a much angrier rock guitar sound, and they tend to present themselves more seriously, and their songs and vocals come across much rougher. It is good stuff. Enjoy!

So, #alexwiththeducati got some footage from the 2016 Georgia Motovlogger meetup, and he shared it with us. If you ever meet us and wonder which one of us is #alexwiththeducati, just yell out "Alex," which will narrow it down to one or two people. Then look at the jacket he has. If it says "Ducati" on it at LEAST 10+ times, that is probably him. Plus he is pretty tall like #bigmike and  myself(#wally).

Bonus!  You get some footage of #doitwithdan and #motonosity. Plus you get to see my fat skull once or twice!

Enjoy!

#musicmonday

So, I was under the impression that I liked Iwrestledabearonce's newer stuff, but it turns out that they have made exactly one decent video (boat paddle) since Courtney took over for Krysta as lead singer, and after that, Courtney bleached her hair out that white/blue/grey color, and she seems to only roar now, does little to no singing, and the band went super duper cereal. That is no good. So it turns out I pretty much only like their older stuff.

Iwrestledabearonce is a metal band out of Louisiana originally, but also based themselves out of Birmingham, Alabama, for a while, as well. They are pretty good, and their (older) videos are really entertaining.

Enjoy!

#musicmonday

Okay, so last week I had all sorts of ideas for these awesome bands and songs I wanted to share for last week's mm post, but then personal life bad stuff came up, and I knew the song I had to share. I was just in too sad a place to NOT share The Humbling River. Don't get me wrong, it IS an amazing song. Hell, on most days I'll argue that it is one of the most amazing songs ever written. But I was wanting to share something fast and fun. THR is NEITHER of those things. But you know what is both fast and fun? Austraillian funk-metal band Twelve Foot Ninja. They are stupid amounts of fun. I honestly forgot all those other songs, and this is a last minute post, but this isn't a throw away. I was EXTREMELY happy I hadn't posted this song, as it is ridiculously great. And the sugar-skull dancers don't hurt.

Enjoy!

Did some riding on Blood Mountain with our buddies from Savannah(who we hope to do more videos with in the future) and EmptySet after the abbreviated group ride at the 2016 Georgia Motovlogger Meetup. Does it live up to its name? Did everyone make it off the mountain in piece? Who shot JR? These questions, and more, will be answered in part 2.
